Non-executive roles


With two grandchildren  of school age, Gill wanted to discover for herself what goes on in state primary schools.  She was appointed as a governor at a local primary school in June 2014 and has made significant contributions to the recent debates on governance, financing, management accounting. She very much enjoys the engagement and interest of this role.

Social housing

As a Board member, Gill helped Tor Homes, a newly set up Community Interest Company (part of the DCH Group), become fit for purpose over a crucial period of austerity cuts and wholesale benefit changes.   It was a key time of transition for management and her input was greatly valued.    Before that she was on the Board of Notting Hill Housing - a registered Social Landlord  from 2004 -2010. In that role she chaired the Home Ownership subsidiary where she was responsible for profit-making activities whose proceeds may be channelled back into the not-for-profit arm. She also sat on the Remuneration and Borrowings Committees.

Pension fund trustee

Gill was an elected (twice re-elected) Trustee Director of a large (£2bn+) fund since 2000. She was a member of the Investment Committee and chaired the Covenant Review Committee.   She has been involved in multiple adviser selections as well as the detailed discussions surrounding  fou valuations and a complex corporate transaction affecting the employing Company. After thirteen years in office she decided that good governance demanded a change of personnel and stood down. 


Gill was a non-executive Director and Audit Committee member of Hounslow & Spelthorne Mental Health & Community NHS trust from 1992-97.

She was a member of the Strategic Planning Group of Westminster Mind from 2008 - 2012 where she took a particular interest in the activities and commercial reach of the art therapy workshop Portugal Prints.
